My Sea, My Timor National Campaign

In 2021, the Special Representative for the Blue Economy, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, launched a national awareness campaign focused on the importance of Timor-Leste’s maritime areas.

The Ha’u-nia Tasi, Ha’u-nia Timor (My Sea, My Timor) campaign aims to rally national support around maritime boundary negotiations, strengthen the country’s position on maritime sovereignty, and promote the potential of marine resources for Timor-Leste’s development.

The campaign also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of ocean health and its essential role in economic, social, environmental, and political well-being. It highlights the ocean’s irreplaceable value to people and communities.

As part of the campaign, a wide range of educational and promotional materials are being produced. These include the annual celebration of World Ocean Day (8 June) in Timor-Leste, the publishing of books for children and general readers, photography publications, audiovisual content, and awareness kits focused on marine conservation—particularly designed for young audiences.

Ha’u-nia Tasi, Ha’u-nia Timor represents Timor-Leste’s commitment to the Blue Economy, emphasising the protection, conservation, and sustainable use of marine resources.

The campaign promotes national initiatives and programmes that support long-term economic development rooted in environmental sustainability.
