Diving along the stretch from Behau to Manatuto offers a spectacular mix of underwater landscapes and vibrant marine ecosystems. The sites—including K41, Behau Village, Bob’s Rock, Lone Tree, Dirt Track, and K57—feature dramatic topography, from steep coral-covered walls, sprawling anemone gardens, outcrops, sandy patches, and even a purposely-sunken wreck to create an artificial reef. Divers can expect encounters with schools of tropical fish, turtles, and occasional sightings of reef sharks and rays. Coral gardens thrive here, with both hard and soft corals providing shelter for critters like nudibranchs, eels, lobsters and macro life.
However, divers should be cautious of variable conditions, including sudden current shifts, low visibility after rains, and fishing activity from the coastal communities. Some sites have recently been designated as ‘Tara Bandu’, or Locally Managed Marine Protected Aras and will require the collection of a small fee to pay to the local community custodians. Access to the sites vary with some offering easy shore access and some requiring a boat.
