Most of Hera’s coastline is covered with mangroves, which then merge onto coral reefs just slightly offshore. These sites are accessed by boat and can be done as drift dives to cover the stretches of reef. Mounds of coral bommies are interspersed with soft coral patches, and deeper sections of the slope are covered in long whip corals, large sea fans and barrel sponges. Schooling fusiliers, triggerfish, and speeding jacks swarm the sites which get particularly more active in moderate to strong currents. In clear visibility keep eyes out into the blue in case of lucky sightings of the odd passing pelagic like mobular rays or whaleshark.
