Located approximately 1-1.5 hour’s drive or boatride outside of Dili, sites in this area are varied with some sections offering sloping reefs as well as parts that drop off as deeper walls, stunning and covered with a mix of soft and hard corals. The quick drops to depth from initial shallow sections of reef bring about upwellings and nutrients, allowing for healthy growth and abundance of corals and reef fish. This topography also means that currents can be unpredictable, so careful consideration should be made for each dive plan. A couple of the sites can be done via shore entry but boat dives allow for easier and safer access to deep sections, as well as for diving in currents. The deeper corners of Black Rock and Wayne’s World offer chances of sighting larger pelagics.
